Last week, E and I were lucky enough to spend some time in San Francisco, due to a conference he and my father-in-law were attending. After the conference we drove up to Napa with my in-laws and sister-in-law for a little mini vacation. Napa was amazing! I can’t wait to share everything with you all soon!
On Friday morning, while my husband and father-in-law were still at their conference, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law and I went out for breakfast (READ: ALL OF THE PASTRIES). Read more on our adventure below!

FIRST STOP: Mr. Holmes Bakehouse
I had been DYING to try a Mr. Holmes Bakehouse cruffin so we hopped into an Uber and made our way to the Tenderloin District. It was drizzling but there was still a line out the door when we arrived. We were really taken with their decor and type style. The shop is very well branded.
Thank god there was an awning or we would have been soaked! We waited in line for about 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, the woman standing right in front of me in line purchased the VERY LAST cruffin of the day, and it was only 10:30AM! I couldn’t believe it! I decided instead to order a Le Donut with chocolate filling and a Strawberry Jalapeno Brioche Bomb. I dug right into my Le Donut. It was AMAZING. There was so much filling. Every time I took a bite, it looked as though the donut was going to explode all over the place. It was a miracle that I walked out without any chocolate filling on my Everlane Trench! I decided to save the Strawberry Jalapeno Brioche Bomb for the drive to Napa (the jalapeno jam was SOOOO spicy!).
The Le Donut, while delicious, wasn’t enough to fill me up so we decided to make our way over to one of my sister-in-law’s favorite spots for more carbs!
SECOND STOP: Tartine
Tartine is an adorable little cafe in the Mission. They have amazing bread, pastries and coffee as well as quiche! We ordered a little bit of everything. I ordered a latte and a vegetable quiche. Both of which were delicious.
My sister in law ordered a selection of pastries for the table as well. In addition to my order we had a Pain au Chocolat, Pain au Jambon (Ham and Gruyere) and a Morning Bun. Talk about carbo loading! I couldn’t eat the Pain au Jambon but my mother in law and sister in law devoured it. It was their favorite of the bunch. The Pain au Chocolat was buttery and sweet. The Morning Bun was light and fluffy. All in all, it was the perfect second breakfast!
Next time we are in San Francisco we will definitely be stopping in again!
LAST STOP: Bi-Rite Market
A short walk down the block from Tartine is Bi-Rite Market. Right in front they have the most adorable little flower stand. I wanted to buy everything!
Bi-Rite is famous for their Creamery, which is a bit further down the block. And while I am a firm believer that there is no right time to eat ice cream, the weather didn’t really call for it. Instead we walked inside the market and picked up a few provisions for our trip up to Napa.
At the suggestion of my sister-in-law I selected a Harmless Coconut Water which was PINK! I never knew they made pink coconut water. In fact, they don’t make it pink, it is naturally that way! We also picked up some cheese. I always look for good Vermont cheddar so we picked up some Cabot Clothbound, my personal favorite. My sister-in-law selected some Cow Girl Creamery Mt. Tam cheese. To bring all of our selections together we picked a box of Rustic Bakery Rosemary Olive Oil Sourdough Flatbread. These selections made for great post wine snacks!
