HOME: Our Master Bedroom with Havenly

As you may know, E and I purchased and moved into our first home last summer just before Nathan was born. To be completely honest, our master bedroom looked like a hurricane hit it from the time we moved in until about a month ago. It took a while to unpack, get organized, and finally decorate. When we moved, we kept the bedroom furniture we purchased at Raymour & Flanigan when we first moved down from Boston to New Jersey. It was only three years old, and it was still in great condition! I knew it would look nice against the paint color that I chose for the room. There is just something about dark blue and wood tones together.

I was having a hard time putting together the decor for the room, so I decided to take a chance and work with an online interior design service called Havenly. I heard about them through friends who had positive experiences, and I just so happened to have a promo code for $50 off a Full Room Design and $50 Merchandise Credit. Havenly also has a Happiness Guarantee! If you aren’t happy with your final design, Havenly will either match you with a different interior designer or refund your original design fee. What did I have to lose?

I started the design process by picking an interior designer based on my aesthetic. I chose Nicole because  I loved the way she incorporated modern accents into her designs. While our bedroom set is pretty traditional, I am naturally drawn to modern decor. One piece that I had picked up and was DYING to incorporate was this modern metal wall decor. After choosing Nicole, I filled out the VERY DETAILED Havenly Room Profile. This is where you explain the parameters of what you are looking for. They ask for a budget, color likes and dislikes, aesthetic, photos of the space, dimensions, pins of your design inspiration, and they ask you to provide a list of the items you already own that you plan on keeping.

After Nicole reviewed my Room Profile, she sent over three different ideas for my review. Each had a different theme and products that I could like, dislike, and comment on. From there, based on my choices at the idea stage, Nicole provided a Concept. Below, I have shared the Concept Design Board and Layout that Nicole generated for our room. As you can see, we decided to go with grey, blue and metal accents throughout. We only went back and forth twice on the Concept before moving to the Layout phase. If you provide dimensions for your space, your interior designer will do a full Layout! For me, this was the most critical piece. It is one thing to imagine all of these pieces in our room, but seeing where they should be placed was immensely helpful. I ordered (almost) everything that we picked out, with the exception of the chair and side table. I decided that we didn’t need them since I didn’t plan on reading anywhere other than my bed when I was in our bedroom.

Once everything arrived, it was time to get it set up. Unfortunately, E and I are the two least handy people on the planet. Thankfully, Task Rabbit exists! Click HERE for $10 off your first task. I hired a Task Rabbit to come and hang everything! An hour and half after he arrived, our room was COMPLETE! It was so easy and painless.

If you are looking for some help redecorating, I would HIGHLY recommend Havenly and Task Rabbit. Without them, we would still be living in a pigsty!
