BAKE ME: Heluva Good! Smokey Sweet Potato Onion Crescents

Typically we spend Thanksgiving with my family in Los Angeles. There have been two years, though, where we have celebrated with E’s family. E’s family is BIG on appetizers for Thanksgiving. They have a full hour of appetizers before the turkey! And there are always so many different options to chose from, including E’s favorite, pepperoni pinwheels!

When Heluva Dips! approached me about creating a recipe for Thanksgiving, I knew I HAD to create a Thanksgiving appetizer. I wanted something quick and easy that could be prepared on the big day. If you aren’t into appetizers before Thanksgiving dinner, you could eat them for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning. They take no time at all, and are so smokey and delicious! The Heluva Good! French Onion Dip really complements the roasted sweet potatoes with smoked paprika.

Ingredients:

Heluva Good! French Onion Dip, 1 container

Crescent Rolls (I used the Trader Joe’s ones), 1 package

Sweet Potato, 1, cut into thick slices

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (“EVOO”), 1 tablespoon

Smoked Paprika, 1 teaspoon

Garlic Powder, 1 teaspoon

Sea Salt, 1/2 teaspoon

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Place the sliced sweet potatoes, EVOO, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and sea salt into a big plastic bag and seal it. Shake everything around until the spices and EVOO evenly coat the sweet potatoes.
  3. Roast in the oven for 20 minutes or until fork tender. Allow to cool on the counter for 15 minutes.
  4. Lower the heat of the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  5. Open the crescent roll container.
  6. Roll all of the crescents out and spread a thin layer of Heluva Good! French Onion dip on the inside.
  7. Place two roasted sweet potatoes on top of the dip, and then roll up each of the crescents.
  8. Bake according to the package directions. The Trader Joe’s crescents bake up in 14 minutes!
  9. Serve immediately!
